The Mathematics Anxiety Research Group includes several experts who regularly engage in consultancy work with a range of stakeholders.
Previous clients have included: Bristol City Council; De Ferrers Community School; Luminate Education Group; Numeracy for Life; PiXL; Professional Association of Teachers of Students with Specific Learning Difficulties (Patoss); REC Parenting; Sigma Trust; Teach First; Uxbridge and Harrow College; White Rose Education.
Work includes, but is not limited to:-
- CPD workshops for teachers (increasing understanding of math anxiety and ways to address it)
- Workshops directly with students (tackling maths anxiety and preparing for exams)
- Evaluation of existing data and research programmes.

Knowledge Transfer Partnerships
A KTP is a partnership between your organisation (the company), the University (the knowledge base) and a recent graduate (KTP associate). Working with your organisation, the associate leverages the knowledge, skills and technology available within the University of Derby under close supervision and support of an academic expert. Together, the partnership delivers projects designed to address a critical business issue. The overall aim of the KTP is to improve the impact and efficacy of your organisation in an area that you have identified as a high priority, fostering a culture of innovation.
A KTP is part-funded by a Innovate UK grant. On average, projects costs around £92.5k per year.
The typical grant rate contributions are:
- for large businesses and public sector organisations: 50%
- for micro, small and medium-sized businesses:67%
- for not-for-profit businesses of any size: 75%
